Imagine – you are relaxing beside a perfect blue pool, the wind gently blowing your hair, the serenity engulfing you; you look over at your spouse, who turns to you and says, "You paid how much for this cruise!?" Then you wake up in a cold sweat from the horror of answering your other half. As wonderful as a vacation would be, they are not exactly cheap! However, if your heart is set on that ocean scene, the most viable option for you is a luxury discount cruise, so you can bask in the sun without breaking the bank.
There are two ways to go about finding a discount cruise. Most companies provide "specials" that are discounted fares for a particular package. These are usually less expensive than regular fares and can be utilized to lower cost. However, there are also outside companies that may be able to offer the cruise at a considerable savings.
These are sometimes travel agents or companies that are given deals, or even firms that are given last minute tickets to move. The idea behind this is that no one wants to go on a cruise with 10 people on it; it has to be filled with people to be trendy. Also, the cruise company does not want to sail a ship that has vacancies, as that is looked at as money lost. Their way of thinking can save you a lot of money on a cruise. There are agents and websites, such as cruise.com, that specialize in these last minutes deals. If a cruise is not filling up fast enough, discounts may be offered via one of these sources to ensure bookings.
However, in your search for inexpensive getaway, do not sacrifice safety. Make sure you are dealing with a reputable company and the cruise you are going on is up to par – no one wants to swim home because they did not research the cruise company.
